I put the "long time" in quotes because, like so many places in New England and Maritime Canada, if you weren't born here you are from "away". But, I moved to Derry in 2003. By 2004, my now husband and I knew this would be our home. We continue to find new areas of both our town and state to explore even after 17 years!
I grew up in Massachusetts. My parents both worked hard to keep my younger sister and I happy and healthy throughout our childhood. They instilled many strong qualities in us but I am particularly proud of two qualities - a strong sense of civic duty and courage. Courage to be independent, courage to speak out, and courage to take risks. I hope to bring that courage to the Town Council where I can do my civic duty and help support and advance our town.
My husband Sean and I share our home with a terrier cross named Nick. Nick and I can be found on trails throughout New Hampshire when we aren't working. We all enjoy spending time camping and exploring in the White Mountains.
I have been a Certified Veterinary Technician for over 20 years. In that time, I have earned a specialty certification in emergency & critical care, spent over a decade working on Native American reservations to provide free veterinary care to under-served rural communities, and become a business owner.
In 2015, I completed my M.Ed. in Adult Education and spent the next several years as faculty in a veterinary technology program. I now use that education in my business to provide a variety of training and consulting services to veterinary clinics.
Finally, I have served in numerous leadership roles within my profession. I am a past president of both the Massachusetts Veterinary Technician Association and the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America. I am also the current Treasure for the Pride Veterinary Medical Community.
